Cold Soars (Herpes Simplex Virus)

Cold sores are characterized as the small, often recurring liquid-filled fever blisters that can appear around the mouth, neck, and shoulders; usually caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV). However, herpes is often the term used to describe a sexually transmitted disease that cause painful rash on genitals. In reality, HSV can cause a recurrent viral infection on virtually on any area of the skin or mucous membranes.
